Boys & Girls Club Offering Back To School Programs For Nevada Families
If you have a school-aged kid in Nevada, leaving them alone after school isn’t the best idea. But there is a low-cost alternative for Nevada families.
Studies have shown that those unsupervised afternoons after school are the riskiest for kids and teens (bgcsnv.org). The Boys & Girls Club of Southern Nevada offers a low-cost alternative for families with kids in this age group. And it’s not just a daycare to leave your child. It’s a club with more resources than you might realize.
What the Boys & Girls Club of Southern Nevada offers for families with kids in school.
BGCSNV has 13 locations in Southern Nevada. Each offering affordable after-school programs. And three locations that offer before-school programming. These programs focus on six pillars: Education, Art, Leadership & Service, Sports & Recreation, Health & Wellness and the newest pillar, Workforce Development. This new program helps teens get prepared for getting jobs after school by providing them with things like mock interviews and career exposure.
The Boys & Girls Club of Southern Nevada is also proud to announce a new department in its clubs. The Behavioral Health department focuses on social-emotional learning and provides behavioral health counselors on site for students in need. The clubs also provide Homework Help and offer age-appropriate STEM-focused activities for students. And there is a program that builds leadership skills in 10-13 year old kids. Called Torch Club, this program provides kids with community service and other opportunities to bring out leadership personality traits.
And all of these resources are available to families in Clark County for less than what you’d pay at Safekey. They even offer financial assistance to families who qualify. And transportation to and from the clubs are available for certain Clark County schools. To get more information about club hours and transportation opportunities, visit bgcsnv.org.
