‘Chart Your Fart’: New App Will Help Doctors Keep Your Gut Healthy
I do believe the funniest new app of the year has just hit. And it is courtesy of the of the Australian government. It’s called – Chart Your Fart.
Chart Your Fart To Help Scientists
The Australian government has released an app called Chart Your Fart. They want people to track their flatulence for three days to help scientists with a study. No, I’m not joking.
The app tracks several things: fart frequency, duration, loudness, and – well – stench. Also, how long that smell lingered.
Chart Your Fart Will Help With Better Gut Health
The Australian government is asking Australians to track their farts for three days, including one weekend day. Their press release says it’s to “help scientists better understand the frequency and characteristics of one of the leading gut health symptoms” we all experience.
The press release said “by sharing their fluffs, people will help to create a chart of what ‘normal’ wind may look like in different groups of Australians.” They want their public to share their experiences, for health and wellbeing research. Project Lead and CSIRO Behavioral Scientist, Dr Emily Brindal, says, “it’s about keeping it real and relevant, but why not have some fun too?”
Chart Your Fart is meant for Australians, but anyone can download it. There’s actually an option for people located “outside of Australia.” So you can explain to your wife why you are passing so much gas: “It’s for Australia!”
How The Fart App Works
On the Chart Your Fart app, you just log your farts, or flatulence – or fluffs – as they happen. Then, as I understand, the app then compiles it all into a bar graph that shows how many times you’ve farted each day, and how severe they were.
Honestly? It’s probably part of a great way to learn more about gut health. I just hope that people keep it in the privacy of their own homes. Although Australia is a large country, so the wafting of fumes has a large area to disperse of those fumes.
I also hope that one day, the US government asks us to participate in something so useful. As a nation, it just might bring us together. Because one thing all humans can agree on – American, Australian, or other – everyone fluffs!
