About

Beasley Media Group’s Community of Caring Initiative: Pet Appreciation

Beasley Media Group has an on-going commitment to making a difference in the local communities we serve; this has been the foundation upon which the company was built back in 1961, when George Beasley purchased his first radio station in North Carolina! We proudly continue that tradition today.

In the heat of Vegas summer, pet appreciation is more important than ever. The heat can be dangerous for many dogs. The hot pavement can cause damage to the dog’s paws.

“According to data reported by the Journal of the American Medical Association, when the air temperature is 86 degrees, the asphalt temperature registers 135 degrees,” the American Kennel Club reports.

If you get dog shows, ensure they’re the correct size and don’t fit too snugly or loose on the dog’s paws. Avoid walking during the hottest times of the day, and try to walk your furry friend during the early morning or later in the evening.

The AKA further reports that heat stroke can be serious for dogs. Be wary for excessive drooling, dry, tacky gums, sunken eyes and panting. These could be signs of heatsroke.

Also, the UV rays can cause sunburns and other ailments for your pet.

“A dog’s normal resting temperature ranges from 99 to 102.5 degrees Fahrenheit. Any temperature over 104 signals heat stress,” the AKA states.

Be the guard for your pet’s wellbeing by ensuring they’re hydrated and healthy amid the summer months.

So remember to take this month and appreciate your furry babies, who give us selfless memories and everlasting memories.
