Anne Heche Declared Brain Dead After Car Accident
It has been a week since the devastating car accident that left actress Anne Heche in a coma. On Friday, August 5, Heche was speeding when her Mini Cooper ran off the road and crashed into a house in Los Angeles. The collision caused both the car and house to be engulfed in flames. It took the Los Angeles Fire Department more than an hour to put the blaze out. Heche was pulled out of the burning vehicle in critical condition. The owner of the house lost almost all of her possessions and sustained minor injuries. A doorbell camera from a neighboring house caught on video how fast Heche was going just before the collision. And you can hear the screeching of her tires and the collision in the video as well. You can watch the video here, courtesy of thedailybest.com. There is also a video of fellow actor, Alec Baldwin, expressing love and concern for Heche. Which he and several other celebrities got backlash for, considering nobody mentioned the woman whose house was lost by Heche’s actions.
For more than a week, it was said that Anne Heche was in stable condition, although she was in a coma from the crash. But the most recent reports have indicated that Heche suffered something called an “anoxic” brain injury. That means her brain was deprived of critical oxygen for too long to recover. NBC News reported this on their website: “‘While Anne is legally dead according to California law, her heart is still beating, and she has not been taken off life support so that One Legacy can see if she is a match for organ donation,’ Heche’s spokesperson said in a statement to NBC News.”
Anne Heche hasn’t been confirmed dead yet by news outlets, but it’s understood she’s only being kept alive to donate her organs. She will leave behind two sons. 20-year old Homer, whom she shared with her ex Coley Laffoon. And 13 year-old Atlas, whom she shared with ex James Tupper.
