Don’t Put Your Suitcase On Your Bed; It’s GROSS
When you leave for a trip or return from one, you always have to pack and unpack your suitcase. And majority of the people do this one yucky thing that we really shouldn’t do. That’s putting our suitcase on the bed. But, do you really think about how gross doing this is?
Time To Pack
When you need to pack your suitcase, you pull it out of the closet or from under the bed. What do you do next, you put it on something higher or elevated so you can access it easier. That’s why most people just throw it on their bed, because it’s convenient. But before you do that now, you may want to consider putting it on something else.
Do You Know Where Your Suitcase Has Been?
If you think about it, your suitcase travels with you wherever you go. But it also endures more than we do. You suitcase wheels roll everywhere. Through dirt, dirty ground, water, and more. Then you receive it, you go to your home or hotel, and immediately throw your bag on your bed to unpack. But did you consider where you dragged your luggage before doing so? Now all that dirt, grime, and not to mention germs, are now all over your freshly made bed that you haven’t even slept in. And if you think it’s just your suitcase wheels that are dirty, think again. The exterior of your suitcase is also riddled with germs.
According to an advice column by the Washington Post, a few physicians interviewed for the article reflect the sentiment of avoiding placing luggage on your bed.
Rolls Reversed
Now we all hope that when we get to a hotel, it’s gonna be clean. Well sometimes that isn’t the case. In fact bed bugs are a huge worry now when you go to a hotel. And if you put your suitcase on the bed that just so happens to have bed bugs (gross!!!), they could also get on your luggage and next thing you know, you’re taking home some critters you don’t want or need.
AAA Club Alliance says to sanitize your luggage when you arrive to your destination. That includes home as well. They also say it helps to spray down your luggage with spray disinfectant. That his helpful for sure. And when you get home and wipe it down, it would be also beneficial to vacuum your luggage, inside and out.
