Las Vegas Taverns Showing Love With Discount For Teachers

Golden Entertainment has a string of Las Vegas taverns around the valley. And they're offering a discount in August for our local educators.

School teachers are some of the hardest working and least paid people in the professional world. And August is the month that they have to prepare themselves, mentally, physically and emotionally, to get back into the grind. That’s why a string of local Las Vegas taverns are offering our teachers a discount throughout the month of August. Just to show a little extra appreciation for those who work so hard to keep our kids on the right path.

Las Vegas Taverns Offering Local Teachers Discount All Through August

During the whole month of August, all PT’s Taverns throughout the Las Vegas valley will give a 20% discount to local teachers and other school staff. All they have to do is show a valid school employee I.D. The discount can be used on PT’s extensive menu. They have a appetizers, salads, burgers, pizzas, wings and even a breakfast menu.

PT’s Classic Pub Burger is one of three signature burgers available at the pub. They also offer many other regular menu items as well as a happy hour that rivals other Las Vegas taverns.

Some of the most popular items at PT’s Taverns are local favorites like the Pub Classic Burger. Made with two beef patties, signature PT’s sauce, and veggies on a brioche bun. Served with sea salt fries, twister fries, golden tots or (for an upgrade) sweet potato fries. After the discount, the burger would be just a little over ten dollars. They have two other signature burgers, chicken sandwiches, wraps and more under their “Pub Grub” menu.

If any of our local educators would rather have chicken wings, tenders, or breakfast items (at certain locations), PT’s has that too. As well as an appetizer menu, salads, and eight signature pizzas. Including the popular Gilroy pizza.

The PT’s Gilroy pizza is just one of eight signature pies the PT’s Las Vegas taverns offer. And all 20% off for local teachers and school staff for the month of August. That’s a tasty deal.

PT’s signature pizzas range from $14 to $23, but would be $11.20 to 18.40 dollars with the 20% discount in August. PT’s Las Vegas taverns include PT’s Ranch, PT’s Gold and PT’s Pub & Place. As well as Sierra Gold, SG Bar, Lucky’s, Sean Patrick’s and Great American Pub.

While the back-to-school offer is available through all of August, it does not apply to the already discounted happy hour prices. And the offer can’t be combined with other discounts. PT’s has several Las Vegas tavern locations all over the valley. So if you work for one of our many school districts, grab your I.D. and get yourself a much-deserved treat after work.

We have so many options for all kinds of cuisine, how do you know where to go to get any of it and have a guaranteed good experience? That’s easy. You ask the locals. And when it comes to finding the best milkshakes in Vegas, we don’t mind doing that legwork for you. Fine, fine. We’ll drink a lot of ice cream deliciousness and report back. Twist our arms.

Obviously you can head to the Las Vegas Strip at any time when you’re looking for any kind of food. And you’ll always find a plethora of options to satisfy those taste buds. The Ghirardelli Chocolate Factory sells the most amazing chocolate milkshakes you’ve ever had. So much so that it’s hard to finish one. They’re that rich. Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream Shop is also an option, with a name that’s almost synonymous with “ice cream” these days. They have milkshakes on their menu.

Or you could always stop in to Sugar Factory on the Strip for a drink that’s half shake, half art. And that always comes with the chance for a celebrity sighting too, if that’s your thing.

All of those options and more are something locals might suggest if we were headed to the Strip. But when you’re not planning to deal with all that traffic and tourism, it’s not worth the drive just to get a milkshake. Sorry, Bobby. Your milkshakes are good, but they’re not “fight all the cars and crowds, pay for parking, and spend $15 on a single shake” good.

Where Locals Go For The Best Milkshakes In Vegas

Okay, Flay’s shakes probably are that good, but we don’t need to make that sacrifice when we have so many great options for milkshakes that are closer to home. We asked locals on Reddit where they like to go for the best milkshakes in Vegas. These are the top five places they said.

  • 5. R Burger

    This one is surprising, considering R Burgers is a fast food restaurant. But you know a drive-thru milkshake has to be pretty darn good to make it in the top five milkshakes in Vegas. R Burger was the answer for many people who are looking for a great milkshake. And the secret might be that they keep it simple. With only four flavors to choose from: chocolate, strawberry, vanilla, and Oreo. And they do top it with plenty of whipped cream too.

    Currently, there is only one R Burgers location in the Las Vegas valley, on the corner of Eastern and Warm Springs. But a second location is coming soon near Russell and Arville.

  • 4. ScoopLV

    For any great shake, you need to start with ice cream that is made fresh, in-house. ScoopLV is another place that does just this. They have a lot of great flavors to choose from when making your perfect shake. And these aren’t your typical ice cream flavors. They have choices like Fruity Pebbles or Captain Crunch, Cookie Butter, Ube Cheesecake, and more. But if you can’t decide on a shake from scratch, try one of their specialty shakes.

    ScoopLV is open until midnight every day. They are located in the southwest part of town on Warm Springs and Jones.Ā 

  • 3. Brusters Real Ice Cream

    Yes, all day long. Bruster’s Real Ice Cream is a family-owned business with ice cream that will knock your flip-flops off. If you have the chance, get their Southern Banana Puddin ice cream in a cup. Not as a shake, because you really need to experience the banana chunks and vanilla wafer pieces. However, for milkshakes, this place is always a must-do. Partly for the friendly employees (owner Dave is so nice!) and definitely for the taste of these shakes. All the ice cream is made fresh and there are so many flavors to choose from. And the shakes are available in three sizes: 16, 22 or 32 oz. Check out all the menu options here.Ā 

    Bruster’s is located on Durango just north of Edna (in the Firestone parking lot). If you have a fur baby, don’t forget to ask for a pup cup!Ā 

  • 2. Lucy's Waffles & Ice Cream

    When a restaurant has milkshakes that are really pretty, you take the risk that the chefs spent more focus on the decorations than the taste. That’s not the case with Lucy’s. Locals love this place because the shakes would sell themselves on taste alone. Plus you get the pretty package included.

    Lucy’s Waffles & Ice Cream is located at 6070 S. Rainbow Blvd near Patrick Blvd. You CAN go in just for the milkshakes, but they have all kinds of other goodies too. We recommend starting with breakfast and leaving with your shake. But that’s just us…

  • 1. Handel's

    Another place that starts with ice cream made fresh daily. Handel’s started in 1945 with a woman who had a passion for quality, and the company still uses her traditions today. They focus totally on ice cream, with menu items including scooped cones, blended hurricanes and topped sundaes. The flavors they offer in their shakes are unique, like banana and vanilla caramel brownie.Ā 

    Handel’s has three locations in the Las Vegas Valley. At Tropicana and Hualapai in Summerlin, at Charleston and Fort Apache in Angel Park, and in the south at Arroyo Crossing (Rainbow and the 215).
