Iconic American Daredevil’s Museum Soars Into Las Vegas
Arguably the most famous American daredevil in history, Evel Knievel’s Museum will soon be moving from Topeka, Kansas to downtown Las Vegas. In fact, construction has begun to renovate the Mission Linen building at 1001 South 1st Street in The Arts District.
Evel Knievel Museum Will Soon Be Moving To Las Vegas
I certainly remember watching Evel Knievel’s jumps on The Wide World of Sports when I was growing up. I don’t specifically remember watching his legendary jump over the Caesars Palace fountains, but I’ve certainly seen the replays.
Here’s one I found on YouTube courtesy of The Discovery Channel.
Pretty amazing! He actually cleared the fountains but lost his balance on his motorcycle on the landing. Knievel pretty much broke every bone in his body throughout his career.
Growing up in the 60’s and 70’s, Evel Knievel was a household name. We would all stop what we were doing to watch his historic motorcycle jumps on TV. And now, after seven years in Topeka, the Evel Knievel Museum will be moving to Sin City.
In fact, the museum’s final day in its current residence will be November 2, 2024. It will continue to operate through that particular Saturday according to an article by Shayndel Jones and Madison Bickley on WIBW.com.
Big Plans For Evel Knievel Museum’s Building In Downtown Las Vegas
You’ll soon be able to peruse Evel Knievel’s bikes, helmets, his Mack truck, and even his X-rays, here in Las Vegas. According to an article by Janna Karel on Vegas.Eater.com, the 32,000 square-foot Mission Linen building will not only house the relocated Evel Knievel Museum, but other fun attractions too.
Per Karel’s article, there’s also going to be a Dungeons and Dragons themed pizza parlor at that location in The Arts District. I’m sure by now you’ve heard of, or eaten at, the Evel Pie pizza restaurant on Fremont Street. Well, the owner of that shop, Brandon Powers, is the man behind this new restaurant.
The Vegas.Eater.com article says this new pizza spot will certainly have a retro feel, complete with an animatronic band playing 80s metal songs. Cool! There will also be a retro carnival atmosphere at this pizza parlor. You’ll be able to play pinball, Skee-ball, and old school video arcade games.
Additionally, Mothership Coffee Roasters will also be opening their fifth location at the renovated Mission Linen building. Karel’s story reports this will also be the primary roasting location for that company.
Evel Knievel made Caesars Palace in Las Vegas famous with his legendary jump way back in 1967. And now, more than 50 years later, our city welcomes the Evel Knievel Museum to its list of exciting attractions.
