Colorado Funeral Home In Deep Trouble For Giving Fake Ashes
A Colorado funeral home is being sued for doing what most families dread. When trying to bury or celebrate the life of a loved one. A woman has come forward saying the ashes of his mother are in fact not real ashes.
Is This Concrete Mix?
Tanya Wilson, the daughter of a woman who passed away, came forward and questioned the funeral home. She wanted to know if the ashes of her mother were in fact her ashes. According to The Associated Press, attorney Andrew Swan said, “In death, these men and women deserved to be treated with respect and dignity.” They were in fact given something that wasn’t ashes.
Yong Anderson passed away back in June. Her family went to Return to Nature, the funeral home, to have her cremated. According to KRDO, they paid about $1,500 for them to cremate Yong.
Where Was She Really Cremated?
The family was told by the funeral home that it would be about a week for the cremation to happen. Then they kept pushing back the date. The family finally received the ashes 11 days later. They then flew to Hawaii to scatter her ashes. Hawaii was her favorite place and she had lived there for 20 years. They chartered a boat and everything to do so.
Return to Nature used Wilbert Funeral Services to do the cremations, according to the death certificate for Yong. When contacted, the company told them they stopped doing cremations for them back in November of 2022. This is when things started to not add up. Wilson asked what ashes should look like and she said the ashes looked like concrete mix.
Wilson even went to the extent of buying a bag of Quikrete mix and mixing it with water. She did the same with some of her mothers ashes. She said the both seemed too similar.
The Colorado Bureau is investigating the whole situation. They found at least 189 bodies stored improperly at a building owned by Return to Nature, according to Law And Crime. Tanya Wilson was recently contacted by officials and was told they will be notified as soon as possible when the bodies are identified.
