Woman Covered In Tomatoes After California Car Crash
A woman was driving in Kings County, California when all of a sudden she found herself covered in tomatoes. She crashed into a big rig truck this past Tuesday, Yahoo News reports.
How Did She Not See It?
The tomato truck was apparently coming out of a field, early Tuesday morning. The truck apparently detached from its trailer, carrying the tomatoes when it got on the roadway. According to Yahoo News, the woman was driving on the bypass when she crashed into the side of the trailer. She was driving a four-door blue sedan. Not only was she covered in tomatoes, but she was trapped in her car. Emergency crews arrived on scene and had to help get her out.
The woman was taken to the local hospital by helicopter. She apparently had only minor injuries, but since the accident, there has been no update on her condition, according to local news YourCentralValley.com.
Accidents Caused By Trucks Who Don’t Secure Their Load
This is a common thing apparently, according to the Pacific Attorney Group. They say that cargo falling off trucks and unsecured truck loads can be a serious problem.
Accidents also can happen from cars swerving to avoid debris falling off trucks. This causes the cars to possibly collide with other vehicles and or objects surrounding the area.
Unsecured truck loads can reduce visibility as the cargo is falling off the truck. Also tire blow outs. Items falling off an unsecured truck load can cause some ones tires to blow out, Pacific Attorney Group’s website states.
And of course road debris left on the road from truck loads are a major hazard. We’ve all seen random tires, sometimes furniture and other items strewn about the road.
How Common Are Tomato Truck Accidents?
Believe it or not, it’s more common than you think. Back in August of 2022, a tomato truck spilled about 150,000 tomatoes on the interstate. This caused crashes and accidents of passing vehicles, according to ABC 8 WFAA News.
