TINHIH Offering Help For Las Vegas Teens In Recovery From Substance Abuse
If you or someone you know is a teen in recovery in Las Vegas, there’s a place to turn for help.
The There Is No Hero In Heroin Foundation (TINHIH) is a nonprofit organization in Las Vegas dedicated to ending the devastation substance abuse causes families. Joe Engle founded the organization after he lost his own teenage son to a heroin overdose. Engle wanted to help other parents who lost children to addiction. In 2013, they got together and hosted a community yard sale. They donated the profits to a sober living facility. That’s where TINHIH was born.
What TINHIH has done in Las Vegas.
Since its inception in 2013, TINHIH has helped thousands of local kids struggling with substance abuse. The organization is a strong advocate for sustainable recovery programs at the local, state and federal levels. And they have many programs available for teens in Southern Nevada who need help overcome addiction.

TINHIH offers a variety of services in Clark County. Including outpatient treatment programs and prevention services. They also offer training for harm reduction and overdose prevention. Additionally, TINHIH runs the Alternative Peer Group (APG), a drop-in center for teens and youth to participate in sober activities. The APG is closely affiliated with Las Vegas’ Mission High School, a school for teens in recovery. And most recently, TINHIH has acquired a sober living facility for adults as well.
Two guests were on the latest episode of Talking Solutions to discuss these resources. Clinical and Operations Director, Ari Chelli, and Founder Joseph Engle. They elaborated upon what the TINHIH programs entail and how people can access them. Also discussed were two upcoming fundraising events for the organization. As well as volunteer opportunities for the community.
