Small Business Saturday In Las Vegas Offers Some Great Shopping Options
Small Business Saturday is happening this weekend. The day that we all collectively try to thumb our nose at the big *ahem* online retailers, and big box stores.
Small Business Saturday In Las Vegas Local Events
Boulder City, Nevada will celebrate their fifteenth annual Small Business Saturday on Nov. 30. This year, their “Shop the Block” program could save you some money, all while helping small local businesses.
What is the “Shop the Block” program? It’s a very cool, progressive type sale. From Nov. 30 to Dec. 1, shoppers can shop at any participating Boulder City business, then bring their receipt to another participating business, and get 15% off their purchase!
Market In The Alley In The Arts District In Las Vegas
With Small Business Saturday in Las Vegas, comes Market in the Alley. The event will begin on Saturday, November 30, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Las Vegas Arts District. Then, it will continue on Sunday, December 1, at UnCommons, also from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Each market will connect shoppers with more than 70 small businesses. Jen Taler, founder and curator of Market in the Alley, said there will be everything “from housewares to jewelry, body products to art, and everything in between, including delicious food trucks and vendors.”
Taler also pointed out the importance of supporting small businesses: “Shopping local improves the local economy. Supporting small keeps the heartbeat of the city beating.”
Both events are free and open to the whole family – including pets.
Small Businesses Saturday Origin
Small Business Saturday was started in 2010 by American Express and is celebrated on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
“More than 53% of Nevada employees work for or own a small business. Showing small businesses your support helps keep money in our community,” said Raffi Festekjian, the City’s Economic Development Coordinator.
Shop local. You might just save some money while helping your community!
