Someone Cracked The KFC Chicken Recipe???
What’s the worst part of being stuck at home? If you said, not eating out, you might want to read this.
In what couldn’t have been perfect timing, a man from Warwickshire, England posted on Twitter that he has successfully replicated the KFC fried chicken recipe. Dan Gell said he’s been working on this for 18 months, and has finally figured out the magic recipe.
Here it is:
For Flour Mixture:
5 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 Tbsp Oregano
1/2 Tbsp Thyme
1 Tbsp Ground Ginger
2 Tbsp Garlic Powder
1 Tbsp Mustard Powder
1 Tbsp Celery Salt
1 Tbsp Black Pepper
1/3 Tbsp Sea Salt
2 Tbsp White Pepper
4 Tbsp Paprika
Mix all ingredients together in shallow bowl.
For egg wash, make a mixture of egg whites and milk in a separate bowl.
Mix 3 parts flour to 1 part self-rising flour. This is your coating. Dip room temp, lightly salted, chicken in this, then in the egg wash, then again in the coating. Fry in hot oil at 324.5 degrees Fahrenheit (162.5Celsius) for 5 or 6 minutes. Keep in warm oven at 175 degrees (abt80Celsius) while batch frying the rest of the chicken, then throw in fryer for 90-seconds right before serving.
TIPS:
wash = egg white & milk
Seasoning: 3 part mix to 1 part self raising
Chicken = room temp for cooking & light salt seasoning
Coating Order: flour, wash, flour
Oil: 162.5. C for 5-6 minutes
Warming oven: 80C whilst you batch cook
Final Fry for 90s before serving
