Bigger Mailboxes Would Help The Postman With Your Packages
The United States Postal Service wants your help.
Bigger Mailboxes Are Being Encouraged By The Postal Service
Remember back in the day, when the mailman came to each and every house, and put the mail in your individual mailbox. And then, of course, put the flag up to indicate “mail delivered!”
Although you may live in an area where you have communal mailboxes, like most areas in Las Vegas. But there are still many areas in Vegas, and across the country, where there are individual stand alone mailboxes.
Now the US Postal Service is asking people with those stand alone, curbside mailboxes, to switch to larger, jumbo mailboxes. They want to be able to fit packages inside them, and save everyone time, and hassle.
Paperless With Bills But Bigger Mailboxes For Packages
If most of your bills are set to paperless, you might go days without even getting a single piece of important mail. So this all may seem strange to you.
The United States Postal Service wants you to get a bigger mailbox. Because they want to be able to jam – I mean, put – more packages inside.
They say it’s to help reduce the need for notices left for package pickup, and trips to the Post Office to retrieve your packages. But honestly, it’s probably also to save postal workers the time and effort of dropping them off at your doorstep. Especially in rural areas, where that walk up to your door is much longer.
How Big Is A Bigger Mailbox
The Postal Service recommends one with the classic shape, but with a lot more room. They say it should be about 14 inches wide, 16 inches deep, and 12 inches high. A little better than a square foot, if you do the math.
No, they are not selling. But that would probably be smart. They suggest the ones sold at like Lowe’s, Home Depot, True Value, and Walmart. As you can see, they range in price, so you can definitely shop around.
The mailman is still a person “in your neighborhood. A person that you meet, when you’re walking down the street. A person that you meet each day.”
So if you live in a rural area, or you still have an individual mailbox, you might want to think about getting a larger one. In the end, it will make it more convenient for all.
