Taco Tuesday: 4 Flavorful Ways To Spice It Up At Home
The biggest issue I have when getting groceries and cooking is figuring out what to make every night. Tuesday is the easiest night for me because I don’t ever have to think about what I am going to make my family for dinner. Because on Tuesdays, it’s Taco Tuesday! This gets a little repetitive for the guys so I have found a bunch of different ways we can spice up our taco night.
But where did Taco Tuesday come from? Who came up with such a brilliant idea that we all should eat tacos every Tuesday? Let’s go find out the origin of coined day and also how to elevate yours at home so it doesn’t get boring for your fam.
Taco Tuesday isn’t just a meal, y’all, it’s a cultural phenomenon! We may not be able to thank the person who created it because the exact origin of Tuesday celebration is somewhat still a mystery. If I’m being honest, I would like to thank LeBron James and his family for having tacos on Tuesdays and always sharing them on social media. Restaurants and eateries began offering discounted tacos on Tuesdays as a clever marketing strategy to attract customers mid-week. The idea caught on like wildfire, and soon, Taco Tuesday became a beloved tradition for families, friends, and taco lovers everywhere.
Now, let’s talk about how to take your Taco Tuesday to the next level when you’re cooking at home. I know I know – there’s nothing wrong with classic beef tacos or simple toppings, I love that but my family gets tired of it so why not get creative and add some excitement to your weekly fiesta?
4 Tips For Spicing Up Your Taco Tuesday:
- Experiment with different proteins. Ground beef is stable but try ground turkey, grilled chicken, shrimp, and carnitas. There are seriously so many different options even tofu for the vegetarian option.
- The sauce makes or breaks tacos let’s be honest and it can totally change the flavor profile of your tacos so I always have different ones on hand. tangy salsa verde, smoky chipotle, creamy avocado lime sauce. My son likes to use the Taco Bell sauce that I found at the local Albertsons.
- Don’t stay focused on the tortilla. Traditional is great but what about using lettuce wraps, crunchy, homemade tortilla bowls? If I’m being lazy (shhh) I just say we are making taco salad bowls and crunch up tostitos and put them on the bottom of a bowl then add your toppings from there.
- You don’t have to do Taco Tuesday and make it Mexican. You can do Korean BBQ tacos or Mediterranean-style tacos.
One of my favorite presentations of tacos is the one that makes everyone happy. Just a simple DIY taco bar on your counter. Take out off of your shells, wraps, and toppings, (lettuce, cheese, sauce, sour cream, tomatoes) and let everyone create their own Taco Tuesday delicacy.
Taco Tuesday is a fun family dinner idea and the creativity that it allows is what makes it a celebration! Cheers to Taco Tuesday!
