Las Vegas Police Department Helping Underserved Kids This Halloween
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is going above and beyond this Halloween for our local kids.
Through their LVMPD Foundation, first responders in Las Vegas have launched a campaign to collect funds and candy from the local community. Which they will use to help underserved kids in Southern Nevada have a better Halloween. Metro officers will distribute the candy at 22 Fall Festivals and Trick-or-Treat festivities around the Vegas valley this Halloween season. Each respective area’s Area Command will select the families in each underserved neighborhoods that will participate.
About the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Foundation.
The LVMPD Foundation is a nonprofit organization in Clark County that has been helping the local community since 1999. One of their main goals is to raise funds to support the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s many programs. Including hundreds of community engagement initiatives that build relationships between local communities and the law enforcement who serve them.
The Halloween candy giveaway is one such initiative that helps to forge these stronger relationships in the Las Vegas community. With positive interaction with local law enforcement, it is hoped that trust between these officers and community members grows. The Foundation believes these interactions contribute to increased communication between communities and law enforcement. And that it leads to more residents contributing to crime prevention efforts in their neighborhood.
