Ohio Man Caught Cutting Ankle Monitor Off At Ace Hardware Store
If you’re going to cut off your ankle monitor then maybe you shouldn’t do it at a local hardware store.
We’ve all seen someone in public with a big black device around an ankle, and some of us can’t help but stare. Or, if you haven’t seen it in person then maybe you’ve witnessed it on television or the movies. The electronic ankle bracelet is used to monitor the person’s whereabouts. Meaning they probably have been through the legal system a time or two.

A man from Ashtabula, Ohio was caught on camera grabbing hedge clippers at his local Ace Hardware Store, and then proceeded to use the hedge clippers to cut the ankle bracelet of his leg, Fox 8 in Ohio reports.
The Ashtabula Police Department arrested the Ashtabula man after they got a tip that he was seen around the area without the ankle monitor around his leg, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.
Fox 8 News reported the man planned the whole thing out, and it all starting with a trip to the local Ace Hardware Store. The security video clearly showed the man walking throughout the hardware store. Up and down aisles. He was then confronted by a store employee. He told the employee he was searching for hedge clippers.
Shortly after he removed the ankle bracelet, the man placed the small ankle bracelet on a shelf in the store. He then proceeded to walk out, but not before grabbing a free bag of popcorn. He was later seen wearing a backpack and on a bicycle.
About fifteen minutes after he exited the store, the employees found the cut bracelet that he stashed in the aisle. The name of the man and charges are unknown at the moment, but are said to be available soon to the public.
