Local Donations Fund Henderson Team To Little League World Series
The Henderson Little League team, representing the state of Nevada, is the beneficiary of local donations to help get them to the Little League World Series! It’s one thing to qualify to play in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, but it’s another having to pay expenses to get there! A topic of conversation on The Mike & Carla Morning Show this morning!
It was almost 10 years ago when a little league team from Southern Nevada was in the spot light. A story found in the Review Journal recently reminds of how Mountain Ridge LL made it to Williamsport. Although falling short, they provided the Valley with quite the excitement. Igniting a city prepared to embrace a championship on a whole new level. But even they can tell you that it’s one thing to win your way to Williamsport, but another finding the funds to travel there.
Local Donations Are Helping With Travel Expenses
In the case of the Henderson team, local donations have brought some big bucks forward to ease the financial burden on the parents and the league itself. Now most of us know that being a part of a team in Little League, most of the experience is fundraising. Car washes, bake sales, and the list goes on. Not saying that this team didn’t have to do their share, but it sure helps when deep pockets step in to help!
In fact, it’s nice to see…the likes of the Vegas Golden Knights/Silver Knights, who know a thing or two about winning championships, stepped in. It was good to see the local NHL franchise donate a check for $10,000! Dollar Loan Center, which has supported the baseball team since 2011, dished out $2,000! In fact, according to a recent press release, the DLC had so much confidence in the team, they gave them the check before the playoffs started!
Combine all this with what the family and friends of team members are throwing into the hat, they should be good. Listen to the segment below to get a little insight on this whole situation. Nevada plays on Tuesday at 12 noon and the game will be on ESPN 2!
