Are You That Person That Still Pays With Cash
Are still paying for things with cash? Although it might be hard to believe, it’s very rare that customers use cold hard cash when purchasing an item or paying for dinner! The Mike & Carla Morning Show laid out some amazing stats that back this up…but most people don’t think of cash as an easy way of doing business any longer.
In fact, according to a recent poll, paying with cash comes in at #3 behind credit cards and debit cards…however, we still use the green for little things like gum or candy. Personal items like a haircut, groceries and gas, which is hard to believe since everywhere you go, it’s self serve by using a credit or debit card.
On the other hand, a few bucks can come in very handy…why would you use your credit card to buy a candy bar or a pack of gum. Gas and groceries might be a bit different, but if you think about it, you don’t have a couple of bucks on ya to pay for a pack of gum?
Of course it does seem more and more that when you whip out the wad of green, people look at you like you have a third eye or something. Another sign of physical cash being a think of the past, have you ever tried getting change back when using a few bucks? It’s like attempting new math when you were in grade school…the person behind the counter breaks out in a small sweat! Especially when you add an odd amount of change so you can get $5, $10 or even $20 bucks back even.
If you’re on the fence on which way to pay for things, Primeway Federal Credit Union recently put out an article suggesting that it might even be better to use dollars as opposed to credit cards.
You would think in this digital age, you’d at least have a calculator behind the counter ready to do the math…either way, listen to the segment, check out the poll and find out where you stand using cash. It’s all in this morning’s segment of a “Few Things We Think You Should Know”…and much more!
