96.3 KKLZ’s Producer Morty Shares News Of His Battle With Cancer
96.3 KKLZ’s producer Morty, of The Mike and Carla Morning Show, is known for contributing light hearted jokes, funny moments and great segments. We have to share a very serious announcement with all of you regarding one of our own.
The news that we received has hit the KKLZ family hard, and it’s affected us all. Our executive producer was given some life changing information and he has given us permission to share what is happening.
Mike, Morty and myself all joked on the air recently about Morty having to get a colonoscopy – as many of us have had, or will have to do. During his doctor screening, Morty‘s doctor ran into complications while examining his colon discovering a mass found in his colon.
The doctor thought it would be best to run some scans, tests, and bloodwork to find out more about the newly found mass. After the results came back, the doctor had to deliver horrendous news to Morty that he was diagnosed with cancer.
One of the most horrible, awful words anyone can ever hear and we wish no one EVER has to hear it. The doctor pointed out that in addition to being diagnosed with Colon Cancer, Morty has small spots found on his liver and that his lymph nodes have been affected as well.
For treatment, he has started chemotherapy in hopes to shrink the mass, and control the other areas so that his doctor can eventually remove the mass and beat cancer! Morty is our family, as well as yours. He wanted to let you know what was going on, because there will be days that he won’t be in the studio because of his treatment.
The pandemic put a lot of things on hold for everyone. To all of you – if you haven’t been to the doctor because you’re afraid, or you’ve just put off going for some reason – GO! Check to make sure that your body is functioning the way it is intended to do so. And if it’s not, there’s generally SOMETHING you can do about it, if you know what it is.
Keep Morty in your thoughts, prayers, meditations – we ALL appreciate it. Especially our Executive Producer, Morty – who we we expect to stick around for many years to come!
