Carla Rea Disputes Guinness World Record ‘Speed Clapper’

The Guinness World Record for the most claps – yes, CLAPS – in one minute is now held by an American speed clapper! The Mike & Carla Morning Show brought this up this morning as Mike O’Brian continues to look for records Carla Rea can attempt to break to get into the book!
Dalton Meyer, 20, of Davenport Iowa, broke the Guinness World Record by clapping his hands 1,140 times in one minute. That’s about 19 claps per second. He beat the old record by 37 claps.
Dalton says his first exposure to speed clapping was in elementary school. He saw a YouTube video of Kent French, a speed clapper who was once the fastest clapper in the world. He doesn’t remember why, but the video made him want to learn speed clapping. It ended up being easy for him. He says, “it was like I didn’t even have to practice… for some reason I just knew how to do it.”
Dalton uses a wrist-clapping method invented by Eli Bishop, who formerly held the record for the most claps in a minute (1,103). This form of clapping uses the wrist and fingers, as opposed to only the fingers on the palms, is known as wrist clapping.

I suppose “technically” it’s correct, but it seems a little sketchy to me. I guess the Guinness folks are the only ones who really matter. After all, THESE THINGS are also in the big book of records!
I keep trying (not very hard) to go viral – I stacked three M&M’s, I tried to peel an egg without tearing the membrane, and I shoveled cheese balls in my mouth trying to beat that record, but to my dismay I could not top any of those records, or do any of those things better than the record holders.
I guess I’ll just stay in my lane. But when my sex tape comes out (me in just my underpants, going to the refrigerator every five minutes to see if there’s anything to eat NOW) watch out!!
