Let’s Talk About Sex
Now I know I’m getting a little personal here, but let’s talk about sex! Come on – you know you want to. What turns YOU on?
A very fun (well, at least in my opinion) poll of 2000 people found our sexy top turn-ONS include foreplay, being a good kisser, and your partner telling you, “I like that.” *fans self*
Our top turn-OFFS include poor hygiene, flirting with other people, and eating with your mouth open.
The poll also found one in seven people are afraid of being judged for what TURNS THEM ON. As long as you and your partner are both ok with it, and you’re not hurting anyone else, go ahead and fly your freak flag, like the other six in seven people that aren’t afraid!
Honestly though – the most common turn-ons are all pretty benign. According to the survey, American’s most common turn-ons include: Foreplay, neck kisses, being a good kisser, your partner telling you, “I like that, ” and being undressed by them.
The most common turn-OFFS are a little more – err – interesting: Poor hygiene is #1, followed by talking about an ex, flirting with other people, eating with your mouth open (gross, gross, GROSS), and being overly arrogant or cocky.
It also found half of us wait at least three months into a relationship before we’re truly upfront about what our turn-ons are, and we’re a little less likely to talk about our turn-offs.
Honest communication between partners is vital in any relationship, but there’s always a bit of reluctance when it comes to the most intimate topics, and talking about someone’s turn-ons and turn-offs is one of them. These conversations are important for the relationship though, because they lead to more trust in each other, create more confidence and respectfulness, and create a healthy and safe bond between partners.
More than half of the respondents revealed they’ve been in a relationship where they haven’t been honest with a partner about their turn-ons and turn-offs.
We only live one life, people – talk about the sex, and make it happen. Then have some fun, and feel GOOD about making it happen!
