Colin Farrell Officially Joins New ‘Batman’ Movie
The Batman has officially found his Penguin. Colin Farrell has joined The Batman as the iconic supervillain. The news was confirmed by director Matt Reeves on Twitter.
“Wait — is that you #Oz?” Reeves tweeted alongside a gif of a shrugging Farrell on Monday (Jan.6). Oswald Cobblepot is the Penguin’s real name in the Batman comics.
Farrell was first rumored to be playing the character in November, but it’s only now that his role has been confirmed. Last year, it was also announced that Paul Dano will play the Riddler in the new Batman film starring Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne. Zoë Kravitz will play Catwoman in the upcoming film, while Peter Sarsgaard as been cast in a mystery role. Fans believe he will play Harvey Dent, better known as Two-Face.
The new Batman movie will focus on Bruce Wayne’s earlier years as the superhero and from the looks of this cast list will include many of his famous foes.
The Batman is slated to hit theaters June 25, 2021.
