It’s been a tough few years for Dion, She was diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome, which is a rare autoimmune neurological disorder. She has talked about her desire to get back onstage, to do what she loves. But at this point, she is still uncertain as to when that will be.
In a very revealing interview, and photo layout, for the May issue of Vogue France, she says she wants to be the best that she can be – and wants to see the Eiffel Tower again.
She told Vogue, she just can’t say when, or even if, she will be back. “I can’t stand here and say to you: ‘Yes, in four months.’ I don’t know… My body will tell me.” The disease will always be with her, but she hopes that a miracle will be found, along with a way to cure it. For now she lives with it.
She does physical, athletic and vocal therapy five days a week. She says it’s very hard physically and mentally to fight the condition. For a long time she thought maybe she did something wrong, and that it was her fault. It is not.
