Three hundred and twenty-eight days. No, that’s not the name of a new zombie movie. That’s how many days Melo has been sitting at Hearts Alive Village, waiting for a family to open their home to him. The worst part… Hearts Alive wasn’t his first stop. This 7-year-old pit bull/cattle dog mix has spent the better part of his life in shelters and rescues. While we’re happy to have him as a part of the Village, and while his foster mom loves him to pieces and takes him for weekends whenever possible, living life without a family to call his own… it’s just not fair. Is he a little peculiar? Yes. Does he have a few quirks? Yup. Is he a good boy deserving of love? Absolutely. Melo needs a home and he needs to be the only dog in it. He needs a family that will understand he doesn’t think like other dogs, and give him the space and the mental stimulation to thrive. It’s time for this boy to live his best life.
