Yes! You read that correctly! A lot of people hear heavy metal music and complain or want it turned down or even off. Why? Because they only hear it as irritating noise. But what they don’t know is that it actually can help with their mental health!
A clinical psychologist named Nicole Andreoli took to her TikTok account to explain it to the masses. Now before we judge her for doing it on TikTok, she is a real certified psychologist.
Andreoli says that listening to any kind of music can be “therapeutic and can allow for an emotional release” and heavy metal is not exception.
She said that metal music can lessen negative emotions by reducing cortisol levels. That helps lessen stress.
And believe it or not, listening to heavy metal can help you think more logically. It also is known to help the most with focus.
Most people will think that heavy metal lyrics usually focus on rage and anger, it has been found to be a positive way to process anger safely!
So if you’re trying to stay focused more on things, maybe throw a little heavy metal into your daily playlist. It may do more help than harm to you! And who knows, you may even start to like a genre you never once did!

Absolutely Avoid These 6 80s Songs On Your Wedding Day
It’s June! It’s one of the most popular months of the year to get married. Lots of brides dream of having a June wedding day. The choice of songs you play during your wedding, or at the reception, could make or break what should be the most joyous day of your life.
Wedding Songs Have Real Meanings
You and your beloved might have an ironic sense of humor. Or maybe, you love to choose the unusual. You love to go against the grain. Do the unexpected. Or, you think all of those “love songs” are just too “mushy” for your wedding day.
That all may be true. But you will probably have family and friends around you to help you celebrate your union. The songs you choose to play during your wedding ceremony, and at your reception, will matter. It will show all of those people how you really feel about each other.
A Romantic Title Doesn’t Mean Its An Appropriate Wedding Song
When you scroll down to the list of six 80s songs to avoid on your wedding day, you may be surprised to find a few that you had on your list as “must haves.” The title may make the song sound romantic. But, once you hear the lyrics, you will understand why some of these tunes should be avoided on your wedding day.
There Are Plenty Of Romantic 80s Songs
We play lots of romantic songs on 96.3 KKLZ. There are plenty of love songs from the 80s to play on your wedding day.
And here are just a few off the top of my head: “Heaven” by Bryan Adams, “Up Where We Belong” by Joe Cocker and Jennifer Warnes, “Take My Breath Away” by Berlin, “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now” by Starship, and “Endless Love” by Diana Ross and Lionel Richie.
Additionally, here’s a list of appropriate 80s songs for your day of bliss. This list was compiled by Nick Stackhouse on ArrowHouseEvents.co.uk.
We wish you a long and happy marriage!
6) Addicted To Love - Robert Palmer
You and your partner may be addicted to each other physically, but this song could be somewhat off-putting to those in attendance at your wedding or reception. Better to leave the sexual stuff for private times and focus on the love, dedication, and affection you have for each other. Even after a couple of shots of tequila at the reception, this song probably shouldn’t be on your playlist.
5) "Every Breath You Take" - Police
This song gets played at many wedding receptions. But, did you know this song is not about true love and dedication to one’s partner? It’s really about jealousy and obsession. It’s kind of a “stalker” song. Avoid it if you can.
4) "Total Eclipse Of The Heart" - Bonnie Tyler
Sure, this would be a great slow dance song at your wedding reception, but the lyrics include the line: “Once upon a time I was falling in love, now I’m only falling apart.” Not exactly the sentiment you want to impart to your loved ones and friends on your wedding day.
3) "The One I Love" - R.E.M.
When you see the title of this song, you think, “Perfect!” Here’s a song I can dedicate to my new spouse. The first line of the song is: “This one goes out to the one I love.” But, lots of people don’t listen past that. Here’s the second line of the song, and the reason you want to avoid this ditty on your wedding day: “This one goes out to the one I left behind.” Oops!
2) "With Or Without You" - U2
Sure, Bono’s plaintive singing on this song makes you think he is aching for his partner’s love. But if you really listen to the lyrics, he’s saying that he can’t live “with or without you.” So, his new spouse is really driving him nuts already! It foreshadows a stormy relationship for the bride and groom.
1) "Love Will Tear Us Apart" - Joy Division
Most people get married because they are in love. Heck, the Captain & Tennille song “Love Will Keep Us Together” told us how great love is. This song argues the opposite point. How depressing. Your wedding day should be all about the love you feel towards each other. Apparently, not everyone feels love is a good thing. Oh well.
