Yes! You read that correctly! A lot of people hear heavy metal music and complain or want it turned down or even off. Why? Because they only hear it as irritating noise. But what they don’t know is that it actually can help with their mental health!
A clinical psychologist named Nicole Andreoli took to her TikTok account to explain it to the masses. Now before we judge her for doing it on TikTok, she is a real certified psychologist.
Andreoli says that listening to any kind of music can be “therapeutic and can allow for an emotional release” and heavy metal is not exception.
She said that metal music can lessen negative emotions by reducing cortisol levels. That helps lessen stress.
And believe it or not, listening to heavy metal can help you think more logically. It also is known to help the most with focus.
Most people will think that heavy metal lyrics usually focus on rage and anger, it has been found to be a positive way to process anger safely!
So if you’re trying to stay focused more on things, maybe throw a little heavy metal into your daily playlist. It may do more help than harm to you! And who knows, you may even start to like a genre you never once did!
