National TV Dinner Day: What Was Your Favorite?
If we’re going to celebrate one thing today, well…it’s National TV Dinner Day! What’s your favorite…that’s what we wanted to know this morning! The Mike & Carla Morning Show delved into TV dinners this morning exploring all the different kinds.
Mike O’Brian even dusted off an old fashion movie about TV dinners from The M&C archives in the back closet! For those that don’t remember or know too much about them.
If you watch the series, “The Food That Built America”, what a great series on frozen foods and how they came about! It truly was a battle of dynasty’s between Swanson and Stouffers. In the end, we were the winners back in the mid 50s.
What Was Your Favorite TV Dinner
As a kid, both Mike O’Brian and Carla Rea remember these delectable dinners, heated up and served in the foil tray. Which made it easy to keep your food separate! And it seemed that with each dinner, they included a delicious desert!
From chocolate cake to an piece of apple cobbler…these dinners had it all. But stop the press…Executive Producer Morty brought up one that nearly made Carla collapse. Morty said that his favorite: Spaghetti and Meatballs!
Morty said it was either that or out of a can…which push Carla over the edge! Being Italian, Carla couldn’t believe her ears.
Someone mentioned a Fried Shrimp TV Dinner…which, to be honest, no one on The M&C Morning Show had ever heard of before.
But back to our favorites, for Mike, the Salisbury steak, with mash potatoes and corn. For Carla, it was the fried chicken! But then Carla mentioned everyone’s favorite at Thanksgivingturkey with gravy and buttered peas with sweet potatoes.
No matter what your favorite is, celebrate National TV Dinner Day by going to the store, and bring home a couple to enjoy! Oh, and don’t forget to put out the TV tray
