It can be very hard for animals if they are at a shelter for extended periods of time. It becomes their home, and it is harder for them to adjust to a new home. They get used to the shelter staff being their family, and living in a cage.
Even Fostering A Pet For A Few Weeks Can Be A Lifesaver
According to the shelter, and if you don’t know this, even just fostering a medium or large dog for a few weeks gives them a break from the noisy shelter, and being cooped up. It helps them relax, and decompress. And The Animal Foundation will provide you with everything you need as a foster parent.
It is very hard for shelter employees, and volunteers, to see so many animals in need of families to love them. So, managing animal shelter population is necessary to ensure the well-being of the animals and staff.
