Nevada Is A Top 5 State To Start A Business In 2024
Is your vision for this year to finally pursue that business idea you’ve dreamed about? Well, here is a boost you might need to get started. WalletHub recently reported on the best states to start a business in 2024, and Nevada ranked in the top five.
“A state that provides the ideal conditions for business creation — access to cash, skilled workers and affordable office space, for instance — can help new ventures not only take off but also thrive,” WalletHub explained.
To determine which states are best to start a business this year, WalletHub dug deep into analyzing specific data. All 50 states were measured in 25 different relevant categories. Environment, resources, and business costs were among them. From there, total scores in each area were added to create a final grade for each state. This then allowed for an official ranking to be compiled based on total scores.
Nevada Ranked 5th Overall
Coming in right behind neighboring Idaho and ahead of Arizona, Nevada ranked as the fifth-best state to start a business in 2024. Environment and access to resources were where the state performed the best. Furthermore, in the category of “Availability of Human Capital,” Nevada ranked as the second best state (California was first).
“Starting a business is a difficult and risky process, but where you live can highly influence your chances of success,” WalletHub said.
The Nevada Governor’s Office of Economic Development recently detailed the key industries in the state right now. Mining, information technology, tourism, and gaming were among those mentioned.
Many great small business ideas came out of the pandemic. Many workers found their niche by pursuing passions with their time. For example, this led to home-baked specialties evolving into restaurants or catering businesses.
Since WalletHub has named Nevada one of the top states to start a new business in 2024, perhaps this movement will encourage aspiring business owners to launch their plans in their researched market.
Top Items to Kick Off This Year's Decluttering
As we step into the New Year, it’s a great time to clean up our homes and get a fresh start. A survey by Cinch Home Services found that many people have been on a cleaning spree. According to the survey by the home warranty provider, 70.3% of respondents have engaged in a cleaning spree since the start of last year, with 62.6% expressing a “very or extremely” committed attitude toward maintaining cleanliness. Despite these efforts, 45.9% still admit feeling embarrassed about the current state of their living spaces.
Benefits of decluttering.
In light of these findings, it’s worth considering the impact of physical clutter on our cognitive processes. Researchers at the Princeton University Neuroscience Institute, using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and other brain-mapping tools, discovered that an abundance of objects in our visual fields hinders information processing. Essentially, the presence of too much stuff limits our ability to focus on the task at hand.
Additionally, a sleep study conducted by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine revealed that people sleeping in cluttered rooms are more prone to developing sleep problems and are at a higher risk of developing hoarding disorders.
Recognizing the challenge of finding motivation for decluttering, The Spruce, a home and lifestyle website, provides helpful tips. They recommend using a decluttering checklist to simplify the process, making decisions about what to clear out more manageable. Additionally, using such a checklist allows you to track your progress by checking items off as you work through it. It’s a simple yet motivating and empowering act.
The Spruce recommends focusing on little victories instead of trying to tackle everything at once. This makes the whole process less overwhelming.
