Nephew Of Michael Jackson Will Play Him In New Biopic
A Michael Jackson biopic is officially on the horizon. It’s no surprise after the success of Bohemian Rhapsody and Rocketman. And, for a few reasons, this one is bound to be a success too.
First: The Producer/Director Team.
Graham King will be producing this movie. He produced Bohemian Rhapsody. Directing will be Antoine Fuqua. He directed Training Day (Denzel Washington, Ethel Hawk) and Emancipation (Will Smith, Ben Foster).
Second: The Writer.
John Logan is writing the screenplay. He wrote the James Bond films Skyfall and Spectre. Other credits include Gladiator (Russell Crowe, Joaquin Phoenix) and The Aviator (Leonard DiCaprio, Cate Blanchett).
Third: The Star.
And the point many people are excited about, is the star of the film. The nephew of Michael Jackson, 26-year old Jaafar Jackson. I know what you might be thinking. But Jaafar didn’t get the role through nepotism. He simply embodied his uncle more than anyone else could. And many people auditioned.
“I met Jaafar over two years ago and was blown away by the way he organically personifies the spirit and personality of Michael,” said King. “It was something so powerful that even after conducting a worldwide search, it was clear that he is the only person to take on this role”, bbc.com reported.
Michael‘s mother, Katharine Jackson, seconded that opinion. “Jaafar embodies my son. It’s so wonderful to see him carry on the Jackson legacy of entertainers and performers” (bbc.com). Jaafar is the second-youngest son of Michael‘s older brother, Jermaine Jackson.
Jaafar wrote about his excitement in a post on Instagram. Along with a photo of him practicing his uncle’s dance moves. He wrote “I’m humbled and honored to bring my Uncle Michael’s story to life. To all the fans all over the world, I’ll see you soon.”
In the photo, Jaafar bears an uncanny resemblance to his famous uncle. The crazier thing is how much he sounds like Michael Jackson. Check out Jaafar‘s video for You Got Me Singing. Crazy, right?
The film, simply titled “Michael”, will come out July 26, 2024. – Wendy Rush
