Another Iconic Las Vegas Bar Closes After Almost 30 Years
It was iconic and “the place to be” for almost three decades. But another legendary Las Vegas bar has closed its doors after almost 30 years.
Located around the corner from UNLV, the Crown & Anchor British Pub is all of a sudden a memory. Some might say it was a historic run and quite a few of us have left some great memories there.
Close To 30 Years And Another Iconic Las Vegas Bar Shuts Down
Located at 1350 East Tropicana, this place was home to some great days, and awesome nights, and was home for “live” music for quite a few bands.
According to a recent story in the Las Vegas Review-Journal, there was no reason given for the closure. However, the story was quick to point out that the location at 4755 W. Spring Mountain would remain open.
It was a two-level hang out and, like a lot of places, you never knew who you were going to see drop by. My wife one time told me that while she was there, the guys from REO Speedwagon stopped by for a “pop”!
That’s the kind of place it was. The place that would be jammed packed with students from the university to hear music, watch soccer or just to grab lunch, dinner or a drink! From their fish and chips to a pint, you could always drop in and just end up having a good time.
The inside was so that it would take you back and make you feel that you were anywhere but Las Vegas. Depending on what was going on, the atmosphere could be overwhelming…but on the other hand, a nice getaway for a relaxing lunch!
For the time being, The Mike & Carla Morning Show resided across the street from this iconic pub. When the KKLZ was in the confines of a business park just off Tropicana and Maryland Parkway.
Just like others in the area, Carlos Murphy’s, Moby Grape, Captain A’s…another iconic bar has shut down in Las Vegas! So, raise a pint, let’s have a toast to the good times and the great memories of the famous Crown & Anchor English Pub!
