Fireworks In Las Vegas: Safe And Sane Or They Are Considered Illegal
The Clark County Fire Department wants you to hear it: Only “Safe and Sane” fireworks can be sold and setoff in Clark County/Las Vegas, in the week leading up to, and on July 4th.
Only ‘Safe And Sane’ Fireworks In Las Vegas Are Allowed
There was a time not so long when you couldn’t even drive away from the Moapa fireworks place, just outside of Las Vegas, with anything you purchased. You had to set them off right then and there – because they are ILLEGAL,
Now, people just buy them, leave – and seemingly shoot them off in my neighborhood for the rest of the summer! I truly hate it. because yes, they are illegal – and they are dangerous.
You Can Be FIned Up To $500 – And A Couple Fingers – If You’re Not Careful
Fire inspectors in Las Vegas are out in full force, checking fireworks booths to make sure they are doing things safely, and legally. “You don’t want to be spending the weekend dealing with an atrocity or damage to your body,” said Martin Casillas, a fire inspector with CCFD.
Before a Safe and Sane fireworks booth can get a permit, they have to meet these requirements
- Having a ‘NO Smoking’ sign
- Not allowing cars to park right next to the booths
- They must have a water bucket and fire extinguisher on hand
You’ve heard it all before on what is permitted, and what is not, when it comes to setting off fireworks in Las Vegas and Clark County. It’s pretty simple: Nothing that shoot into the air, or flys off in any direction, and no massive explosions. Fire inspectors also recommend NOT letting your children light anything!
Casillas said, “An aerial shot or mortar that goes up in the air, the problem is that the shell doesn’t explode and it comes back down, it may explode when it lands and cause damage to the body, residence or neighborhood.” You could lose a finger, and eye – or even worse, ya boob!
The ONLY fireworks allowed to be sold and used in Las Vegas, and Clark County, must “Safe and Sane” stamped on the packaging. If they do not have those stickers they are illegal. And if you are caught – $500 fine!
So please be careful – and don’t be an idiot!
