Brian May Launches Two New Augmented-Reality Apps
Queen guitarist Brian May treated fans on Halloween (October 31) with a pair of new augmented reality apps.
Diableries: Stereoscopic Adventures In Hell is a sequel to his 2013 book about French 3D steroscopic cards of the 1860s depicting life in Satan’s lair that May wrote with historians Denis Pellerin and Paula Fleming.
The more ambitious Diabl-O-Scope features a musical soundtrack by May and allows its users to interactively play with characters using visual and audio effects as well as create videos for posting on social media.
In a statement May says that, “The new Diabl-O-Scope app is a fabulously devilish toy for those long dusky hours when Ghouls come out to play,” while the product description boasts that, “The app is a great digital tool for users to create their own AR experiences for Halloween and the Day of the Dead…giving their friends and social community the ultimate delightful scare with realistic demons playing in a rock band with a skeleton guitar, and a table of uncanny characters playing poker.”
