Latest Update on Aretha Franklin’s Health
Aretha Franklin has been on the minds of music fans the world over since news broke of her failing health, and for the first time, her publicist has issued a new update on the status of “The Queen of Soul.”
In a statement to the Detroit Free Press from Franklin’s publicist Gwendolyn Quinn, her family members “appreciate the outpouring of love and support they have received.”
Quinn also responded to a report from People that featured statements from Franklin’s nephew, Tim, that alluded to a more positive outlook regarding her health.
“Aretha Franklin has been the matriarch of the Franklin family since the passing of all of her siblings,” said Quinn in her statement. “The love she has for her family is above reproach and was evident in the warm smiles she was able to share with her nephew during his very brief visit two weeks ago. She is seriously ill and surrounded by family members who appreciate the outpouring of love and support they have received.”
