Axl Rose Powers Through Shortened GN’R Show Despite Illness
Axl Rose and his severe tardiness have been a punchline for years, especially in the lead-up to Guns N’ Roses’ latest tour, but you have to give the singer props for delivering even a shortened set at the band’s show in Abu Dhabi.
Rose addressed the crowd and said, “They’ve got me on IVs and a bunch of injections because I got sick today. I’ve been throwing up for about the last five hours. Instead of canceling, we’re going to do the best show we can for you.”
The band got about 16 songs in before calling it a night. Even Slash and Duff McKagan took to Twitter to thank the fans for their support and to reiterate just how sick Rose was.
Abu Dhabi, you guys were fucking great tonight! Axl was severely ill. But you all were hugely supportive. Thanks for that. We'll see again next time! Cheers! iiii]; ) '

Thank you Abu Dhabi! @axlrose pulled a damn miracle...the man was beyond ill, and pulled off something I've never seen in my 40 yrs of playing. You all pulled him thru. Til next time!

Seriously, can you imagine the show going on like this decades ago? Doubtful.
Plus, both Slash and McKagan implied GN’R would return to Abu Dhabi. While a tweet certainly isn’t an iron-clad agreement, perhaps fans who weren’t pleased with the shortened show might get to see the band again in the near future, and perhaps they’ll make up for this show, too.
Who knows? Maybe the band will have new music to perform at the next Abu Dhabi show. GN’R is heavily rumored to be working on new material. At this point, nothing can be out of the question when it comes to this band.
