ICYMI: Steven Tyler, Joe Perry Nominated for a Tony Award
When the Tony Award nominations were announced yesterday (May 1), a large amount of coverage was given to Bruce Springsteen receiving a Special Tony for his Springsteen on Broadway show. However, he wasn’t the only popular musician recognized.
For their contributions to Spongebob Squarepants: The Musical, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry received a nomination in the category “Best Original Score (Music and/or Lyrics) Written for the Theatre.” A number of musician contributed to the music of the Spongebob musical and were nominated alongside the Toxic Twins including The Flaming Lips, Lady Antebellum, Cyndi Lauper, John Legend, Panic! at the Disco, Plain White T’s and They Might Be Giants.
The Tony Awards will air live on Sunday, June 10 at 8 PM ET on CBS.
