The cost for everything we need or want seems to be rising lately. From necessities like food, fuel and housing, to medical, dental and vision care.
I recently learned that there is a non-profit organization called “RAM – Remote Area Medical,” which, according to their website, RamUSA.com, has been providing “free, quality dental, vision and medical services to individuals in need who do not have access to, or cannot afford, a doctor.”
RAM will be holding a free pop-up clinic in Pahrump on October 1-2. They are currently looking for qualified dental, vision, and medical care providers who would be willing to volunteer their services during this two-day clinic. They are also in need of general support staff who are willing to volunteer to set-up, take-down, or provide interpreting services to patients who do not speak English.
Per the RamUSA.org press release about this clinic, some of the services provided free of charge, and with no ID required, include: dental cleanings, dental fillings, dental extractions, dental x-rays, eye exams, glaucoma testing, eyeglass prescriptions, eyeglasses made on site, women’s health exams, and general medical exams. Free, take-home colon-cancer screening test kits will also be available on site.
