At some point in our history, someone decided that new is better. Many cities in the United States get a lot of buzz because they’re “modern” and “contemporary” and other buzzwords that come with the territory. But there’s nothing wrong with hanging on to a little of what we loved in the past. Especially when our past comes with so worth reliving.
Top 5 Best Cities For Millennials To Get Their Nostalgia On
Millennials grew up during the 1980s and the 1990s. Two of the most inventive decades of music during their time. The decades that brought us hair bands and alternative rock, jelly shoes and flannel shirts, the Goonies and Fight Club. It’s a hard twenty years to compete with. So it only makes sense that the nostalgia is strong with Millennials. Fortunately, a lot of our favorites from childhood have stuck around.
But which cities evoke the most nostalgia for Millennials? Expert analysts from Bet MGM Casino wanted to know the answer to that question. They conducted an original study gathering information from 20 of America’s most popular cities.
The experts looked, via Ticketmaster, at variables like 80s and 90s music events in the area. Also Google maps to determine number of recreational venues, like comic book stores, vintage clothing shops, and roller skating rinks. And finally demographic data from the U.S. Census, including the percentage of Millennials in the population. With this information, they found the top five best cities for Millennials to get their nostalgia fix.
#1 In Best Cities For Millennials – New York City
Besides topping the list overall, New York City showed to have the most comic book stores, record stores, and roller skating rinks in the study. And the fact that two of most iconic shows in the 90s were filmed there doesn’t hurt. Friends ran from 1994 to 2004 and Seinfeld ran from 1989 to 1998. So New York City was a staple in America’s living rooms the entire 90s decade.
