Nevada Named Unluckiest State For Finding Love

Bad news for anyone in the Silver State who is single and looking to mingle. Wait...no. We're actually quite good for that. But for anyone who actually wants to find love in Nevada, a new study just came out that suggests you might be S.O.L. Which might as well stand for Single and Out of Luck.

Experts at a dating website called Dating Scouts did a little digging recently to find out where people have the best chance of finding a love relationship. For the study, researchers analyzed the percentage of the population in each state that was single and divorced. They also analyzed the number of Google searches for dating apps that came from each state. With this data, gathered for the period of September 2023 to August 2024, they came up with the list of luckiest states for finding love.

Unfortunately, Nevada landed at the very bottom of this study. If you want a more casual connection with a new "friend", yeah, Nevada has plenty to offer. But when it comes to long-term love, it seems we are doing something wrong. According to this study, 35.6% of the population in Nevada has never married. And while that could mean we just prefer to shack up instead of making anything legal, the study also showed we have a high divorce rate. Specifically, 2% higher than the national average.

So where do Nevada residents looking for love go? Not New Mexico or Oregon. Both also in the top five when it comes to unluckiest places to find love. Rhode Island and Alaska were the other two in the top five, but nobody from Nevada is going to travel that far for romance anyway. Speaking for a friend.

For those in the Silver State who are down for a close, long-distance relationship, they might want to consider Utah. Between September 2023 and August 2024, 32.6% of the population in Utah was single. And they have the fourth-lowest divorce rate in the country.

The other four states on the top five list of luckiest places for love were South Carolina, Texas, New Jersey and Iowa. When it comes to which apps people are using to find love, the most popular in the country is Hinge. Followed closely by Tinder and then Bumble.

But some workarounds that can help a date be more budget-friendly include using coupons or vouchers, finding a place with perks like a bar with a trivia night and prizes on the line, and searching up some free local events.

Volunteer dates can work really well for established couples. They can create new opportunities to meet people and make couple of friends. Obviously, a volunteer date may not be a good idea if you're separated the entire time. So, this one may require a bit of research. Unless you're looking to add a bit of adventure  or something different to your date.

It's like a scavenger hunt where you don’t know what the items are you're supposed to find. But whatever you two may find you can always laugh and bond about it. There's even the possibility of a fashion show if you find yourself in a place with a load of vintage clothes. The same concept can also be applied to bookstores and music stores.
