Labor Day Weekend In Vegas: When Drivers Should Be Extra Careful
It’s no secret that, like any other holiday, Labor Day weekend in Vegas can include a lot of partying and drinking. At least for some. Which usually translates to people needing to be safer on the roads in Southern Nevada during the holiday. But local drivers shouldn’t make the mistake of thinking that they’re free and clear come Tuesday morning. In fact, a recent study shows that it’s when the Labor Day weekend in Vegas is coming to a wrap that is the most dangerous time to drive.
The Danger Of The Post-Labor Day Weekend In Vegas Commute
The study was done by accident experts at Auto Accident Team. For the study, the team analyzed fatal crash data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration from 2013 to 2022. They used the information to determine which states were the most dangerous to drive in on Labor Day weekend.

While all of Labor Day weekend has shown an increased frequency of crashes, the study shows it’s actually the Tuesday after Labor Day that is the most dangerous day to drive in America. According to the study, between the hours of midnight and 1 a.m. on Tuesday is the most dangerous nationwide. While it’s the 11 p.m. hour on Labor Day that’s the most dangerous specifically in Nevada.
The study showed that between 2013 and 2022, Nevada saw an average of 36 crashes on Labor Day weekend with 33 of them being fatal. The rate of fatal crashes on Labor Day weekend was 9% above Nevadaâs average for the corresponding times four weeks before and four weeks after Labor Day.Â
So, while it’s important to always be safe while driving, it’s a good idea to take extra precautions during the Labor Day weekend in Vegas and the hours going into Tuesday morning.
