It's Labor Day Weekend, and Las Vegas -- as always -- will be expecting an influx of tourists. Labor Day in Las Vegas often means pool parties, bar promotions, food deals, fun BBQs, and more.
Depending on your vibe, there are a plethora of events to satisfy any type of trip.
What To Expect: Labor Day In Las Vegas
Every holiday weekend, you should always expect heavy traffic coming from California. Along with that, The Strip will most likely be congested with tourist traffic -- which we adore.
According to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, over 331,000 visitors are expected to visit Vegas during the holiday weekend. This is an increase from last year's tourist numbers by about 3.4%.
Along with that, Channel 3 reports that hotel occupancy will be at 92% capacity, and visitors are expected to spend $417.4 million -- so our local economy should rejoice over these positive growth trends.
Family-Friendly Activities In Las Vegas
The Labor Day Food & Artisan Festival will take place at Charleston Peak on Sept. 1 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sept. 2 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The festival is free, and it's family-friendly with activities for children, over 70 vendors and live music. For more information, click here.
Downtown Container Park will also host a few events throughout the weekend that will be perfect for the whole family. There will be a "Back To School Block Party" from 5 p.m to 9 p.m. with DJ Memphis Hollywood. There will be free entry, free school supplies, giveaways and more! Click here for the event listing.
Along with these family-friendly choices, the Shark Reef Aquarium is another great choice for any locals or tourists. Ethel M Chocolates Factory & Botanical Cactus Garden may be a fun day for the family. Also, Springs Preserve and the Lion Habitat Ranch are great activities for the children, too.
Las Vegas' Hottest Night-Life Spots During Labor Day Weeknd
If you're looking to party then Las Vegas is the one-stop shop of clubs. There will be tons of different DJs from techno, EDM, Latin, RnB, rap and more.
Across the TAO Hospitality clubs -- like Marquee, Hakkasan, OMNIA Nightclub, Wet Republic Ultra Pool, and Jewel Nightclub -- there will be famous DJs as headliners like Steve Aoki, Tiësto, DJ Pauly D, Martin Garrix and more.
Drai's will also have Moneybagg Yo perform on Saturday. An all-white party on Sunday will take place with Fabolous set to perform.
Zouk Las Vegas -- which operates Zouk nightclub and Ayu Day Club -- will also have a great entertainment lineup on Labor Day Weekend. Lil Wayne, Saweetie, Bryson Tiller and AKON are scheduled.
If bar hopping is more your scene then Fremont Street will have tons of club crawls. It'll be fun bar hopping between the different and eccentric bars that have unique menus and music. Click here for more information about club crawls.
We hope everyone has a safe and relaxing Labor Day weekend!
5 Great Happy Hours In Las Vegas: Keeping It Simple And Cheap
Where are the best happy hours in Las Vegas?
It's always five o'clock somewhere, right? Especially in Las Vegas. But when it comes to happy hour, let's face - you want a bargain. You want to save a little money on that drink, and those nachos.
Happy Hour Like A Las Vegas Local
The Las Vegas Strip isn’t exactly known for its bargains these days. Gone are the days of cheap drinks, and 99 cent shrimp cocktails. So let's leave the Las Vegas Strip, and be a true local.
There are some great happy hours in Las Vegas, and you don't have to go anywhere near the strip. Some of your favorite restaurants offer a great happy hour, that you may not have even known about.
In Las Vegas, restaurants with some of the best happy hour menus are no where near the Las Vegas Strip. They are in neighborhoods, strip malls, or your favorite brewery. Yes, of course, many resort restaurants have happy hours. But as a local, we're not going to the strip, or even necessarily a casino -unless we have to. Or, those cousins are visiting from Milwaukee, and they have to get a yard of margarita, and see the KISS street performers, in ass-less chaps.
Thank The US Navy For Happy Hour
You can thank the US Navy for Happy Hour. In the 1920s, after World War I, happy hours were periods of time on naval ships where sailors could participate in relaxing activities, so they could remove themselves from the toll of life at sea. Those activities were supposed to be morale boosting - mostly boxing, and other athletics.
Of course the US was in the midst of prohibition. But Americans got around that (shhhhh) by going to speakeasies to get a drink before dinner. Happy hour as we know it today!
Here Are 5 Great Happy Hours In Las Vegas
These are just 5 of the better happy hours in Las Vegas - at least some of my favorites. Remember though, happy hour deals change often, so be sure to check the restaurant’s website or social media for updates before popping in for a drink.
Las Vegas Brewing Company - 3101 North Tenaya Way
Great 'hoppy' hour specials include $5 LVBC drafts, $13 LVBC flights, $5 house wine, $6 well drinks. Sloppy Joe Sliders, fried pickles - that are AWESOME - and a really great "pubcuterie." I'm not the biggest beer drinker, but this place has some of the best beers in Las Vegas. Do a flight, and try a few!
The Spot - 8410 W. Desert Inn
The Spot has some GREAT food! And one of their favorites, and mine, is offered on their happy hour menu - their pork belly burnt ends. YUM!!!! Six chicken wings for $8. Happy hour is in the bar only, of course, and they do it from 3pm-6pm, AND again at 9pm-close.
Cheesecake Factory - 750 S. Rampart (several locations in Las Vegas)
Yes, the Cheesecake Factory. They have always had a great happy hour menu! Sliders, pot stickers, hot pretzel bites, spinach and cheese dip, fried zucchini, a happy hour burger, and tons more. Several delightful cocktails for $8.50, draft beers $4.95, bottled beer $3.95. Seriously - you can't go wrong! Try the fried zucchini - just like my grandma's!
Lazy Dog - Downtown Summerlin/1725 Festival Plaza Dr. (two locations in Las Vegas, and a new one on the way)
Lazy Dog is just a fun place overall - and you can bring your dog! Happy hour lettuce wraps, crispy brussels sprouts, buffalo cauliflower. $4 wine, $1 off their draft beers. Woof!
Echo & Rig Steakhouse - Tivoli Village/440 Rampart Boulevard
Echo & Rig is one of the best off strip steakhouses in Las Vegas, and in my opinion - still fairly reasonable. Their happy hour food menu is small, but mighty! A $3 Hotdog - the best hot dog ever! $4 Steak and egg, and Butcher fries with prime steak, homemade teriyaki, and scallions. Half off all draft & bottled beers, half off premium well liquor, $5 house wine, and always a $3 cocktail! It's great, but get there early, it gets busy!
