Battle Of The Bands: Mariachi-Style
Students from all over the Las Vegas Valley will be competing in the first annual North Las Vegas “School Mariachi Competition” this Saturday, March 4th. The event will take place in the amphitheater at Craig Ranch Regional Park, from 8am to 8pm.
I don’t know about you, but I really love mariachi music. I did not grow up listening to that style of music in New York City. However, once I moved to California in the mid-80’s, and then here to Las Vegas in 1994, I grew to enjoy this festive music. I played the trumpet in junior high and high school, so I can relate to the horn section in these mariachi bands. Maybe I’ll take my trumpet out of the closet one of these days, start practicing, get my lip in shape, and get involved with mariachi music.
But enough of my dreams. Let’s focus on the dreams of some of our middle school and high school students right here in the Las Vegas Valley. Bring your family to the amphitheater at Craig Ranch this Saturday and you will be treated to great performances by mariachis from across the valley. Student bands in the 1A and 2A middle school and high school levels will be competing for top honors at this competition. The event is FREE and open to the public. It’s a family friendly day at the park for music, fun, food trucks and more!
I checked out some videos of a couple of the teams that will be performing this Saturday, and they sound great! You can watch these videos too by CLICKING HERE.

Las Vegas Music Festivals You Can't Miss In 2023
Las Vegas is the entertainment capital of the world, so of course you’re going to find the best festivals held in Las Vegas! 2023 is bringing a bunch of them including some festivals returning!
Vegas gets an average of 35-38 million visitors a year! Not to mention being home to about 2.5 million people. So when it comes to music festivals, why not have it in Las Vegas! With numbers like that it’s almost guaranteed to sell out!
There’s a music festival now for every genre of music, being held in Sin City!
Plus with the Las Vegas hotels on the strip, or the beautiful atmosphere of Downtown Las Vegas, there’s never a bad backdrop for these music fests!
In 2023, Vegas will play host to five major festivals. Three of the festivals will be held at one location on the Las Vegas strip. Another one downtown and one up North in the outskirts of the Vegas strip! Which festivals you may ask? Well below are the five festivals!
Tickets to these shows may be hard to come by because most of these shows are already sold out. Or when tickets do go on-sale, they sell out in mere minutes! With this being said, it’s not impossible to find a ticket secondhand, but just be careful where you buy them from or who you’re buying them from. There are a bunch of approved resell sites who you can trust. A lot of people will try to buy them off someone in a Facebook group, dedicated to that particular show, but that may not be the best way because you set yourself up to be scammed! DON’T BE SCAMMED!
So without further ado, here are the top five festivals that are coming to Southern Nevada you need to attend this year!
