Vanity Plates Being Rejected By Nevada Department Of Motor Vehicles
Vanity plates. You see a lot of them in Las Vegas. They’re almost always some sort of cocky bragging, or someone’s name you don’t really care about, or even know for that matter, Or they are just obnoxious. “fFIST4U” or “NUMBA1.”
The Word Is Right In The Name: VANITY Plates
I don’t mean to be this way, but when I see most vanity license plates I think wow,”WATADB.” Someone is very self important. So much so, that they need to pay to get a license plate customized to match their importance. And they always seem to be on some over priced vehicle with letters in the car name, or big trucks with huge tires, and lift kits.
Perhaps I’m stereotyping, and I’m really not trying to be rude. But really, the only upside is that the vanity people are paying more money into the government, for you and me, through the extra fees to get the plate made.
Every year, thousands of Nevada residents apply for a personalized vanity license plates. If the plate “NOTADB” is available, and you want it, the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles will probably approve it. And yay – you’re not a db! You pay the extra vanity fee (what I call it) and that license plate is yours.
But there a tons of personalized vanity plates that are rejected every day. There are, however, hundreds of requests for personalized plates that are rejected by the DMV each fiscal year.
If It’s Not Nice Your Vanity Plate Will Probably Be Rejected
Las Vegas Channel 13 looked at a list of rejected plates from the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles. Honestly, most of the rejected plates were pretty much just vulgar terms, and acronyms.
A lot of VGK fans were denied personalized vanity plates with references to William Karlsson’s Stanley Cup Parade speech.
Others, like “NOCALI“ were dismissed, because they were just plain old rude. And kind of disrespectful to Nevada’s neighboring state.
Apparently one Nevada resident wanted to get a vanity plate that said, “CODE413.” and it was approved. The Metro Police code for a person with a gun is 413. So there’s that.
Here are a few of the rejected Nevada vanity plates.
- PUREBS
- INEED2P
- TINYPPE
- MURDERER
- GL9CK
- NOMODMV
- TURD
- BOOTEA
The Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles is really just trying to keep it nice. And to be honest – I have no problem with that. Because there really are a lot of DB’s when it comes to vanity plates. And life.
