Huge New Upscale Resort Coming To The Las Vegas Strip
A huge new upscale resort is coming to the Las Vegas Strip. A billionaire from Houston, named Tilman Fertitta, is behind the project. Fertitta recently filed plans to build a hotel-casino on a piece of real estate he purchased. The land is approximately six acres at the southeast corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Harmon Avenue. That’s between where the MGM Grand and Planet Hollywood are.
Currently there are Polo Towers and Marriot’s Grand Chateau there. It’s not known how those will be affected by this proposal. However, the Travel Lodge that was in that area was permanently closed after the land was acquired. Fertitta’s purchased included a Tex-Mex restaurant and retail shops. He hasn’t said yet what his plans are for those.
Fertitta‘s plans call for a 43-story hotel resort with over 2,400 rooms. Restaurants and a spa are a given for an upscale resort of this magnitude. But the project will also provide a new convention space, auto showroom and wedding chapel. There will also be a theater with 2,500 seats.
According to the Las Vegas Review Journal, the building plans also indicated there will be plenty of accommodates for the bigger spenders that visit the strip. Suites and villas will be offered for lodging. There will also be a VIP salon, and a bar and lounge for high-limit gamblers.
Fertitta isn’t new to the Las Vegas property scene. He currently owns the Golden Nugget in downtown Las Vegas. This project, however, will be immensely larger and put Fertitta in a different kind of club of owners. He also owns other restaurants and hotels and his portfolio also includes the Houston Rockets basketball team.
The price tag of this latest purchased on the strip was $270 million. The plans will be considered by the Clark County Commission on October 19.

Noble 33, an upscale Los Angeles hospitality and lifestyle company is expanding one of their high-energy fine dining restaurants, Toca Madera, to the Las Vegas strip. Toca Madera can currently be dined at in West Hollywood, California and in Scottsdale, Arizona. The success of these two other locations has set the president that a Vegas location is a must. One can find this restaurant in between Aria Resort & Casino and the upscale shopping mall, The Shops at Crystals. Toca Madera will fit right in with it’s fellow restaurant neighbors Catch and Julian Serrano Papas. Make a reservation now for August 9 for the GRAND opening.
Toca Madera started in West Hollywood, California back in 2015. What sets them a part is their modern take on traditional Mexican food, upbeat atmosphere and lounge-style setting. They are known for using organic ingredients making their dishes fresh and tasty. One of their iconic meat plates is their Toca Tomahawk which is a 40oz chipotle charcoal rubbed SRF American wagyu served with artisanal salts, garlic toreados and truffle butter. If you’re a fan of seafood check out their mar y tierra (land & sea) 8oz grilled prime tenderloin on avocado-tomatillo salsa, paired with u10 jumbo shrimp sautéed in garlic, white wine and habanero chile, finished in hibiscus lime butter.
They support their fellow plant-based guests with vegan and vegetarian options as well. Their reimagined cocktail and drink menus is next level. Their WEHO location features a spicy beverage called the Amante Picante which features azunia blanco, lime juice, agave, serrano pepper, cilantro, tajin. Their classic Toca Margarita includes Azunia blanco, fresh lime juice and agave. We are excited to see what the Las Vegas “Go-To Cocktail Menu” will feature.
If you’re not a dessert connoisseur you might be after dining with them. We heard their Toca Churro Ice Cream Sandwich was delicioso. A vanilla bean ice cream sandwich between warm churros, served with house cajeta and fresh berries. But you’ll have to be the judge of it.
The Vegas location will also feature entertainment nightly with its outside patio and word-of-mouth speakeasy. Hours of operation are Sunday through Wednesday 4:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. and Thursday through Saturday 4:00 p.m. through 1:00 a.m.
