Giving A Used Gift Is A Big Trend
It seems like every year there is talk about how used gifts are all the rage. And according to a survey that PR Newswire put together, it's true. All in all, 82% of people are open to receiving secondhand holiday gifts. And this is up 11% from last year!
Used electronics is the most common, followed by sporting goods, and home improvement items.
You snagged a Black Friday deal on a new TV? Keep it for yourself. Just dust off your old one, wrap it up, and give it to someone. Merry Christmas, sis! Oops, sorry - let me wipe that peanut butter off that remote.
And on the other end of the gift spectrum: 76% of people say they wouldn't have a problem giving a used gift. Many people say the stigma around giving gifts that were 'previously owned' is different now. Mostly due to affordability. But also practicality and sustainability.
Some people also want things that are no longer available "new." Or collectors, or vintage items. Ok, that makes sense.
What Used Items Are People Gifting?
Electronics are on the top of the used gift list. These are those things you can't get the same version of - older gaming consoles, turntables perhaps?
Sporting goods are also on the list. Maybe your old golf clubs, or the croquet set, or ping-pong table your parents had.
Home improvement items are also a popular previously owned gift to give or receive. Grandpa's drill, or dad's socket wrench set.
Secondhand books are also very popular. And they really are cool, especially if it's a first edition, or signed, or inscribed copy. Media, like Blu-rays and vinyl records - very popular - along with toys and games, jewelry, and bags and purses. Clothing did NOT make the list.
It doesn't mean doing your Christmas shopping in your basement (which is something I think my grandma would actually do now). The thought does still count!
Some Nice Ways To Say You Don't Like A Gift
Don't like a gift? Here are some ways to say it, without saying it.
1. "I know exactly where to put this."
2. "Great job wrapping!"
3. "You REALLY shouldn't have."
4. "I like the color."
5. "I didn't even know they made these."
6. "It's always nice to know how much I mean to you."
7. "You just HAVE to tell me where you got this. Like, specifically."
Happy holidays!
Holiday Attractions In Las Vegas Mean More Lights and Sparkle
Holiday attractions in Las Vegas will definitely get you into the spirit.
More Glittering Lights And More Enchantment
There is an abundance of glittering lights in Las Vegas. But there is even more glitter and sparkle in Las Vegas during the holiday season.
Out of town visitors always ask "what is there to do in Las Vegas for the holidays?" Plenty my friends, plenty.
I've lived in Las Vegas for 30 years now. When I moved to Las Vegas there were a few sparkly things to do here and there, and it centered around the holidays. But those events and attractions have grown a lot in the past several years.
Las Vegas is indeed the city of lights, but during the holidays our city shines even more spectacularly than usual. I thought I'd share with you some of my favorite holiday attractions.
From Enchant at The Las Vegas Ballpark, to The Glittering Lights at the Speedway and to the Cactus Garden at Ethel M Chocolate Factory -- all amazing. And guaranteed to get you in the holiday spirit!
Holiday Attractions For Everyone In Las Vegas
I've been to all of these over the years, but it seems that new ones pop up each year. From light shows, and displays. to all sorts of family-friendly fun, there is no shortage of attractions, events, and performances for the holiday season in our city of lights.
Now as far as anything that involves ice skating -- not really my thing. Because I'm about as clumsy as can be when it comes to being on skates. Especially on ICE. But I'll hold on to the little kids dolphin helper, so I don't fall. Or so my fall is less painful. Or - I'll just be over here, cheering you on.
This list just scratches the surface, but as I said, they are some of my favorites. If you haven't been, there's no better time that the present. And most likely they will become yearly traditions.
Hope to see you out and about!
