How Much Is Las Vegas Spending On Fireworks

It's something that some people just wait for...the 4th of July! But here's the question this morning, how much is Las Vegas spending on fireworks?

That's what fired up The Mike & Carla Morning Show audience the other morning. You might be surprised by how much is being spent. On the other hand, we found out that either you are all in or not at all.

Considering everyone on the show, none of us really are those people that go all out on the 4th. In fact, we're more of the "let's just sit back and watch them" type people.

Executive Producer Morty was that person, but ended the streak about 3-4 years ago. Realizing that it was just like burning his hard earned money.

Now keep in mind that a few days ago, we posted a story on how Metro is cracking down on illegal explosives for the holidays. Channel 3 actually reported on this and for some reason, it's been a record year!

So, what is it that makes people whip out their wallets and dish the dollars out for this stuff? From the calls and listeners texting in, sometimes it can be from enjoyment, a challenge, or an all-out competition!

You heard right! Some listeners claimed that they didn't want to be outdone by the neighbor down the street. For that reason alone, they were loading up and ready to put on a show.

One caller said that it just so happened that friends got married on the 4th, so they had to make sure that their display was second to none!

Everyone has their own story to tell as to why they spend the green on this very special holiday for our country. If you are indeed one of those, then listen to the segment and see if it all makes sense.

4th of July Fireworks!  You start to get excited just thinking about it.  Well, at least I do.  I especially love Independence Day fireworks shows which are set to patriotic music.  The trend lately is to set them to Top 40 party songs, but I prefer to let my patriotic flag fly on the 4th of July.

Here in Las Vegas, you can watch fantastic fireworks shows at various casinos from vantage points all across the valley.  There are plenty of Independence Day celebrations you and the family can attend over the 4th of July holiday weekend too.  Click here for a list of this year's best fireworks shows around Southern Nevada.

It got me thinking back to all of the great fireworks shows I've witnessed in the past.  Back when my wife Becky worked for Caesars Entertainment, she planned the 4th of July "high roller" event at Caesars Palace.  They got the best, Fireworks by Grucci, to do their show, and it was always spectacular.  In fact, I produced the patriotic music program for that fireworks show for quite a few years.  The finale of those shows always got me choked up.  Definitely a crowd pleaser, and I'm sure there were a lot of Las Vegas visitors out on The Strip watching those shows as well.
