What Side Dish Do You Bring When Asked To Bring Something
Didn’t think it was that hard of a question, but what do you bring when someone tells you to bring a side dish? That was the question this morning on The Mike & Carla Morning Show.
It was the 4th of July weekend and lots of people BBQing, having family and friends over. It’s a natural question right? If you’re going to someone’s house, you ask the host what you should bring.
What Do You Bring If You Are Asked To Bring A Side Dish
Even Taste.com gives you an entire list of suggestions. Depending on what the host is serving, there’s a side for every type of meal.
So, over the holiday weekend, we were going to BBQ hot dogs and hamburgers. Very “American” of us, especially being the 4th! That’s why, when asked, my wife simply said to bring a “side”.
Afterward, we found out that we had learned something here. That you evidently have to be very specific! We said what we were serving, yet the friends brought over chips and dip. Is that a “side dish” for hot dogs and hamburgers?
Maybe it is, but we thought more like potato salad, macaroni salad, or something along those lines. Now I thought it might be a generational thing.
Example, my wife’s son is in town, going to the store, “Mom, do you need anything?” Well, she told him we DO NOT need water or eggs…got enough of both. He goes to the store and the first thing they unpack is a case of water and some eggs!
Had to ask my wife, “…what are we missing here?” Are these special eggs or something? They didn’t like our brand of water?
In this case, we had been very specific! Nonetheless, let’s get back to “side dishes”…what do you think? Listen to the segment this morning and let us know!
