Candy Cane House Draws 6,000 Weekly Visitors in Henderson, Raises Funds for Local Charity
Open Thursday to Sunday nights from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., visitors enter through a glowing red and white archway. They explore custom displays inside, including a fun Grinch tree and a tribute to the Vegas Golden Knights.
The spectacle began in 2017 when Joey Cardona and husband, Victor Cardenas, collected Christmas trees after Cardona’s lymphoma diagnosis. Cardenas believed “how you feel is how you heal,” as expressed in a recent interview with the Las Vegas Sun. Every year, their collection grew, eventually becoming a must-see holiday attraction.
The news of their commitment to bringing festive cheer to the community spread so quickly that Google Maps now lists the site as an official attraction.
In addition to the decorations, the couple collects donations for an important cause, HopeLink of Southern Nevada.
HopeLink helps prevent homelessness through its programs by providing local families with essential items and resources.
HopeLink’s COO Kristin Aviles emphasized how much seniors and struggling families need basic hygiene items. Cardona and Cardena’s contributions “really got us through a lot of the year,” said Aviles, appreciating their generous support.
Cardona and Cardenas chose HopeLink because it gave people “a second chance at life.” Their 2023 efforts collected $4,000 in donations, plus extra supplies and hygiene items.
Visitors can help the cause in different ways while enjoying the twinkling lights. The couple accepts donations through cash, digital payments via QR codes, and physical hygiene items.
