CES Gadgets: A Walking Table And A Sock Picker Upper
The Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas is in full swing. CES is the first big convention/conference in Las Vegas for the year, and is said to be the most powerful technology event in the world.
Gadgets. gadgets, and more gadgets. Big, small, and every size and shape in between. Most are very cool, and others are just plain weird. But they all serve a purpose, and you will find them at CES Las Vegas.
The weirdest gadgets unveiled so far at CES, include a robot vacuum that picks up dirty socks, a stringless guitar – how is that really even a guitar? And how about a high-tech spoon that makes stuff taste saltier. Forgive me, but wtf?
Amazing Products Introduced At CES Over Time
In the 70’s it was the VCR. In the 80’s, cordless phones. In the 90’s we were entering the digital, and internet age – along came small cellphones, and AOL internet service. The 2000’s brought us the iPod, and the iPhone. In the 2010’s it was ‘smart’ everything – TV’s, appliances, and cellphones.
Some Of The Stranger Gadgets Unveiled At CES
1. Robot vacuum that picks up dirty socks. It’s like a Roomba, but with an arm on top that picks up stuff you tossed on the floor. A company called Roborock made it. It’s just a prototype so far. It can only pick up small items that weigh less than 11 ounces. Here’s a video, but so far, it’s not great at it. However, I’m sure it will get better – because we really are that lazy.
2. Electric Rollerblades. You wear the battery around your waist like a belt, and control the speed with a remote. The top speed is 18 miles an hour. For a mere $800, you can relive the ’90s, and break a hip – but not a sweat!
3. The Electric Salt Spoon. This has actually been in the works for a while, apparently. It went on sale in Japan last year. A slight current of electricity hits your tongue and makes stuff taste saltier than it really is. Whaaaat?? They’re $125 in Japan. You can’t get them in the U.S. yet. Here’s the video. The way you hold it seems very awkward, so maybe they will redesign it at some point.
4. A table with working legs. It’s called the Mi-Mo, and it walks around. The prototype looks like a small side table with the Pixar lamp on it. It’s an A.I. robot you can talk to that looks like furniture.
5. A stringless guitar. It’s like an adult version of the push-button guitars for little kids. For $500 bucks, you can feel like you’re playing guitar, without actually playing guitar, because a guitar has STRINGS! Here’s a video. Kinda lame, but sure….
6. A teeny tiny robot that blows on your drink to cool it down. Nope, not kidding. It’s called the FuFu. It looks like a cat and hangs on the side of your mug. It also works on soup, or any other hot liquid item. They’ll go on sale in Japan later this year for around $25.
So there you have it. Some gems – odd ones – from CES 2025.
