Las Vegas Headliner Murray Sawchuck Has A New Home
I can’t let the year begin without giving a little love to a most talented Las Vegas headliner, and friend, Murray Sawchuck.
Murray Might be surprised to know that I liken him to the late Las Vegas headliner, Danny Gans. Why? Because many people might not know who he is, but once you see hi, you say, “Ohhh – I get it!”
Murray Sawchuck Is A Must See In Las Vegas
Sawchuck opened on the Las Vegas Strip in early 2002, at the legendary, but now imploded, Frontier. Oddly enough, he closed in March of 2024, at the also imploded, Tropicana. He headlined Laugh Factory at The Trop since 2018.
Sawchuck told the Las Vegas Review Journal, “If you think it’s easy to run a show in Las Vegas for 22 years, try it.” He actually started saying the at 10 years, then 15, and so on. I’ve known Murray personally for a few years. And I’ve never known anyone in the business with the hustle he has.
He has found another stage at L.A. Comedy Club at The Strat. You can see “Hairlarious Deceptions” at 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
A Limited Engagement — For Now
“Hairlarious” (cause, if you’ve seen his hair…) will run through April, as of this writing. The Strat is testing it out with a limited engagement. Which isn’t new to Murray. When he opened at the Trop, the billboards and collateral all said ‘limited engagement.’ That limited engagement lasted six years.
Also recently added to The Strat entertainment lineup is Las Vegas powerhouse, and season 2 AGT winner, Terry Fator, “iLuminate” and “Rouge” in The Strat Theater.
Sawchuck has tailored down his show to fit L.A. Comedy Club’s smaller stage. His longtime sidekick, Doug “Lefty” Leferovich is out, but he is still starring in “Late Night Magic” at The Orleans. And his stage partner, and wife, Dani Elizabeth, is not in this show.
The incredibly talented Sawchuck is just fine on his own, and in any venue. I was lucky enough to do one of his Murray’s “Misfits” shows, and it was a blast. And so is he.
Murray Sawchuck Has Huge Following Offstage As Well
Sawchuck has a huge following away from the stage, as well. His YouTube channel, has almost 2 million He’s a been a recurring guest star on “Pawn Stars” for 22 seasons, was an “America’s Got Talent” contestant, and has been featured on “Masters of Illusions” for 11 years. Something a lot of his magician colleagues are not always happy about.
Sawchuck has drawn criticism from some in the magic community, because he has revealed several tricks in video clips. Magicians may not be happy, but the videos have garnered tens of millions of views. And they’re not stopping people from seeing magicians.
You might not know Murray Sawchuck if you are reading this outside of Las Vegas. But once you see him, you’ll never forget him: Funky cool bleach blonde hair, blue and pink-leather jackets. Yeah – that’s the guy!
See Murray Sawchuck at 4pm, Saturdays and Sundays at The Strat. Tickets start at $39.95.
